PCI Certified Parent Coach®

In 1988, rather suddenly and
expectedly, I discovered my passion. I found myself
observing in a little Montessori elementary school in
Washington D.C. and like a bolt of lightening out of
nowhere, I knew. My path, my calling was to be an
elementary teacher. For twenty years I have followed
that path with the same passion. It is with huge
thanks to all the parents who have allowed me a chance to be
part of their lives, their children lives through this early
education.
Twenty years experience with
children and continuing education on child development does
not go unnoticed in the parent community. More and
more parents started to ask questions, ask for support not
only on educational matters but on child rearing. It
was becoming obvious that a new path was emerging.
I decided to do this right and
ensure I was not only taking this path from a place derived
from personal experience alone but also firmly rooted in a
deeper understanding of psychology and coaching. I
balanced raising my son with completing a Master of Arts in
Behavioral Science and an internship as a therapist in
community mental health. Besides ensuring I am
qualified to be a therapist I decided that parents don’t
always need family therapy or couples therapy, sometimes the
difference between misery and happiness is just a small
change. I decided to round my training out by
obtaining Parent Coaching Certification with master’s level
courses at the Parent Coaching Institute.
My passion is working with children and their parents and seeing them grow and flourish together. In this career I am able to guide struggling parents toward better methods and routines and help them find that place of enjoying their children in full.
